Best High School Movies of All Time

Everybody remembers their high school days, good or bad they are impossible to forget.  A bunch of teenagers hanging out together and attempting to be controlled by authority always leads to funny stories as well as interesting relationships.  Here is a list of the top ten movies about the glory days of all time.

10. Friday Night Lights - What goes better with high school than football?  This story about a small town teams hunger for greatness really shows all the ups and downs of high school.  A great back story and some great characters, my favorite being Booby Miles, Friday Night Lights rests at number 10.

9. Fast Times At Ridgemont High - Made in the early 80's this movie about a mix of high schoolers really captures the essence of what it was to be in high school.  Sean Penn plays one of the most memorable characters from high school, the stoned surfer bro who is always confronting authority.

8. Grease - While not my favorite film, it does celebrate what it means to be young and wild.  The T-Birds and the Pink Ladies make this musical one of the greatest movies about high school.  A summer love affair gets messed up for a while due to pride, yet in the end all is well and Sandy and Danny drive off into the sunset.

7. Rebel Without A Cause - Perhaps the most famous of James Dean's movies, Rebel without a cause chronicles a troubled teen as he tries to figure out how to get through the high school years.  At the time this was a groundbreaking movie revealing a lot about high schoolers and their way of handling different situations.

6. Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Ferris Bueller did what every kid dreamed about doing, skipping school and having the most epic day off imaginable.  Not only did he fool his parents with one of the greatest schemes of all time, but he lived it up in Chicago, driving an awesome car, going to a cubs game, and sing in a street parade. Ferris made all the kids around the country try to find a way to skip school and party hard.

5. Superbad - The dream of getting the elusive girl and being good at sex by college.  These three misfits are chasing that dream as they challenge the obstacle of getting alcohol to make it happen.  More realistic than most people may think, high school presents many pressures to impress girls and there are a lot of kids out there with that as their sole motive.  Seth and his friends make one of the best comedies of their time as they chase the girls of their dreams.

4. American Pie - The original movie about losing the v-card in high school and the last chance to do that, prom.  After a rough internet incident, Jim finally gets his chance after prom with the school band geek, and his friends don't do too shabby either.  Stifler's mom makes a classic appearance to make Finch's night and the rest of the boys enjoy their prom nights as well.

3.  Dazed and Confused - The most infamous quote about high school has to come from dazed and confused.  When it comes to freshmen beatings, these seniors know how to end the year, they also know how to go out with a big time party.  Hooking up with girls and smoking everything imaginable, dazed and confused left viewers missing the good ole high school days.

2. Hoosiers - The best high school sports movie hands down, and almost the greatest high school movie period.  Leading the Indiana high school basketball team to a state championship is not an easy task, yet Gene Hackman takes over the role and plays a terrific basketball coach.  A classic that every sports fan should not only see, but own.

1. The Breakfast Club - A combination of everything that is and ever will be high school.  The pretty girl, the nerd, the emo girl, the punk, and the athlete.  This movie touches on every aspect of high school and how they all interact in this adolescent environment.  With the contempt for authority and the strange teen bonding, the breakfast club takes the cake as the best movie about high school ever.
