Most Intimidating Athletes of All Time

10. Dale Earnhardt - Nicknamed the intimidator, Dale Earnhardt changed the face of stock car racing.  The biggest name to ever come out of racing, Earnhardt struck fear in the hearts of other drivers.  He was willing to do whatever it took to win, and win he did.

9. Bob Gibson - A flamethrower, Gibson pitched in an era full of hall of fame pitchers, and he went toe to toe with them all.  He threw the fastest pitch ever recorded at the time and started three games in the world series for the Cardinals.  Not afraid to throw inside, nobody wanted to step into the box against one of the best of all time.

8. Dick Butkus - Called "the most feared man in the game" by Sports Illustrated in 1970, Butkus was one of the best linebackers of all time.  With vicious tackles and ongoing disputes with opponents, nobody wanted to play Butkus and the Bears.

7.  Randy Johnson - At 6'10'' Johnson threw fire and scared every left handed hitter in the league.  With arguably the best slider in the history of baseball, Randy Johnson dominated the 90's and into the 2000's.  The mean scowl on his face paired with the mullet did not make him look like the nicest guy on the mound.

6. Lawrence Taylor - LT has been argued to be the best linebacker of all time, and he did it with flair and intimidation.  He changed the outside linebacker position and put the fear of God into every quarterback he played against.  While the morality of his lifestyle choices may be debated, his abilities to scare his opponents are well understood.

5. Ty Cobb- A legend for his style of play, Cobb not only instilled fear in pitchers, but every player in the infield.  Known for his spikes-up slides, Cobb would injure opposing players for simply trying to tag him out.  There are many different legends about Ty Cobb and his temper, but one thing is known for sure - he is the most intimidating baseball player of all time.

4. Jack Lambert - The picture says it all.

3. Muhammad Ali - The greatest boxer of all time told his opponents what he would do to them, then he did it.  Not just known for his trash talking, Ali could back it up like no one in boxing history.  Nobody wanted to fight the greatest, and if they did, they knew they were in for a long night.

2. Tiger Woods - In his prime nobody wanted to play with Woods, just playing a round paired with him would increase your score by 10.  With a silent demeanor Tiger Woods knew he would beat you and didn't let you think you ever had a chance.  Dominant in every part of the game Woods' best game may have been between his ears, and his opponents' ears.

1. Mike Tyson - This one should not be a surprise.  He threatened to eat an opponent's children and he actually ate an opponent's ear.  Nobody wanted to fight Tyson, and for good reason. In his hay day Mike Tyson was the best boxer around, and the scariest human on the planet, he still may be the scariest.  While not the best boxer ever, Tyson is definitely the most intimidating athlete of all time.
